IF you go into a PT clinic with pain in your right leg, 99% of therapists will spend the entire hour poking, stretching, and "strengthening" your right leg. It sounds logical, right? WRONG. In my experience with 5,200+ clients, the painful side is usually the victim, not the culprit. When your body is out of balance, one side has to overwork to compensate. By stretching the side that is already screaming in pain, you are often just irritating the nerve even more!! 3. STRETCHING THE WRONG SIDE (OR STRETCHING TOO MUCH)

Most PTs are obsessed with "tightness." They tell you your hamstrings are tight or your glutes are tight, so you spend 20 minutes a day cranking on those muscles. BUT IF those muscles are tight because they are trying to protect a nerve, stretching them is the worst thing you can do!! It’s like pulling on both ends of a knotted rope — the knot just gets tighter. My 180-degree solution focuses on balancing the body first. 6. STRENGTHENING BEFORE BALANCING

This is a massive "no-brainer" that most people miss. You cannot build a stable house on a slanted foundation. IF your pelvis is tilted or your spine is rotated (imbalanced), and you start doing heavy strengthening exercises, you are just reinforcing that bad position!! You are literally "strengthening" your dysfunction. My 3-step process is very specific: 1. Balance out imbalances. 2. Stabilize in the newly balanced position. 3. Return to normal slowly and wisely. Most PTs jump straight to Step 2, and that is why you keep flaring up every time you try to get stronger.

I hear this all the time: "My therapist said it would hurt before it got better." Let me be very clear — IF an exercise makes your sciatic pain shoot down your leg, STOP DOING IT!! Pain is your body’s alarm system. If you push through nerve pain, you are causing inflammation and potential damage. A good program should feel like it is "releasing" the tension, not "challenging" the nerve. We focus on non-invasive, gentle movements that don't trigger the "lightning bolt" effect. 8. LACK OF PROGRESSION AND EVOLUTION
