Can injections help sciatica?
Sometimes, for a while. That is the fair answer, and it is not the answer most people are given
before they book.
What an epidural steroid injection does
It puts anti-inflammatory medication near the irritated nerve root. If inflammation is the loudest
part of your problem, the volume drops — often for weeks, sometimes for months. That relief can be
genuinely valuable if you use the window to fix the mechanics underneath.
What it does not do
It does not change why one side of your body stopped carrying its share. Nothing injected can. So
the pain comes back, and the second injection tends to work less well than the first. I have met plenty
of people on their fourth shot who are further behind than when they started, several thousand dollars
lighter.

Questions worth asking before you consent
- What specifically will change if this works, and for how long?
- What is the plan when it wears off — another one, or something different?
