I know exactly how you feel. You have spent weeks, maybe months, going to traditional physical therapy (PT). You have done the clamshells. You have done the bird-dogs. I see this every single day in my practice. Clients come to me after "failing" traditional PT. They feel like their bodies are broken. They feel like surgery is the only option left. BUT I want to tell you something right now — you haven't failed. The system has failed you. Most traditional treatments are designed to treat symptoms, NOT people. They are looking at the fire (the pain), but they are completely ignoring the person holding the matches (the imbalance).

1. THE "SYMPTOM TRAP" AND WHY IT FAILS YOU
Traditional physical therapy is often built on a "one-size-fits-all" protocol. IF you have sciatica, the manual says to do X, Y, and Z exercises. Usually, these exercises focus directly on the area that hurts. IF your right leg is screaming with nerve pain, the therapist stretches your right leg. IF your lower back is tight, they massage your lower back. This seems logical, right? WRONG!!
When you focus only on the site of the pain, you are falling into the "Symptom Trap." Sciatica is rarely a problem with the leg itself. It is a signal from your nervous system that something is wrong further up the chain. Research shows that passive modalities — like heat packs, ultrasound, and TENS units — often only provide temporary relief. They mask the pain for an hour or two, but they do nothing to change why the nerve is being pinched in the first place. IF you are just masking symptoms, you aren't healing. You are just waiting for the pain to come back!!
2. THE 180° SCIATICA SOLUTION: BALANCING FROM THE OUTSIDE IN

My approach is about "Ease of Movement." We find the positions that feel GOOD. We find the stretches that make the pain go AWAY (usually on the other side of the body!!).
